Finches are cheerful.  Unlike a parrot, that may sulk if you are unable to play with it every day, pet finches prefer to play among themselves.

Cages
It depends how many finches one keeps.
A finch been a small bird the bar spacing needs to be quite narrow.
Natural branches need to be provided to trim their nails naturally.
The cage needs to be cleaned every day.

Bath
Bathing is essential to finches, the water should be changed daily.

Toys
Finches do not need elaborate toys, natural branches might cheer them up and help them to trim their beak.

Food

  • seeds for finches can be found almost everywhere
  • sproots and spray millet are good for finches
  • protein such as egg food, milk soaked whole wheat bread, insects such as meal worms and fruit flies, mynah bird pellets and some dry dog food
  • vitamins: cod liver oil to provide vitamin D
  • grit with charcoal is essential to aid digestion with minerals and trace elements (sprinkle some at the bottom of the cage floor
  • calcium such as cuttlebone
  • treat supplements to offer sparingly include spinach, chickweed, dandelions and apple or pear
  • seeds with honey, fruits and vegetables are fun and nutritious to the bird.
